GETTING A HEAD START ON BECOMING A TEACHER

Anyone who is interested in becoming a teacher can get a head start on being successful in this profession by working with children, either as a paid employee or as a volunteer. Being a babysitter is an excellent way to start learning how to deal effectively with children. Jobs in summer camps or at child care centers also give valuable experience, as does volunteer work with youth organizations such as the Boy and Girl Scouts and YMCA groups. Teaching as a career can be explored through teaching at a Sunday school or working as a tutor. In high school, there are cadet teaching programs for those interested in a teaching career.
